BizPortz Introduces Roofing Manager Estimating System
March 8, 2022 – BizPortz, the nation's leading developer of post-frame, stud-wall, steel-frame, decking and structural insulated panel takeoff and estimating software, is today introducing the newest tool to its lineup of contractor efficiency and profitability tools.
"Roofing Manager is a tool that metal manufacturers, building material dealers and contractors have been requesting for a long time," said BizPortz President Tom Knight. "We are particularly proud of Roofing Manager, which is the product of many years of experience in the development of takeoff and estimating tools that make the job of estimating metal roofs, particularly standing seam roofing projects, not only vastly easier, but perhaps even more importantly, more profitable. Users can now estimate even the most creative roof configurations quickly and with very little training."
"Our focus in the development of Roofing Manager was to address the problems that contractors have in the field when trying to figure new or re-roofing projects with little more than a pencil, paper and measuring tape. The system adapts to the most complex roof configurations and produces accurate bills of material, layout detail for each roof section and section drawings with cut lengths."
Roofing Manager is inexpensive to purchase and maintain, and does not require specialized or expensive computer equipment. Roofing Manager changes the rules relating to standing seam and all other metal roofing estimating projects. Being able to produce a customer quote in just minutes makes Roofing Manager an indispensible contractor tool. It's fast, simple and absolutely accurate.
Roofing Manager is available now from BizPortz, Inc., Lawrence, KS.

BizPortz Introduces Decking Manager Estimating System
February 7, 2022 – BizPortz, the nation's leading developer of post-frame, stud-wall, steel-frame and structural insulated panel takeoff and estimating software, is today introducing the newest tool to its lineup of builder efficiency and profitability tools.
"Decking Manager is a tool that building material dealers as well as their builder, remodeler, and renovator customers have been requesting for a long time," said BizPortz President Tom Knight. "We are particularly proud of Decking Manager, which is the product of many years of experience in the development of takeoff and estimating tools that make the builder or designers job not only vastly easier, but perhaps even more importantly, much more profitable."
"Our focus in the development of Decking Manager was to address the problems that our building material dealer and contractor customers have encountered in the field with existing software. Deck designers need a system that is absolutely accurate in terms of the bill of materials generated. It must produce construction drawings and allow the deck designer to create complex designs with creative planking patterns that are more appealing to homeowners. Our customers also stressed that the system must allow the homeowner to see their proposed deck prior to construction, be inexpensive to purchase and maintain, and not require specialized or expensive computer equipment. Decking Manager satisfies each of these issues," Knight said.
Decking Manager changes the rules relating to deck design, takeoff and estimating. The system allows designers to showcase their expertise in creating complex designs, decks with virtually any planking pattern, multiple levels, unique stair configurations and more. Taking customers on a 3D tour of their proposed deck, producing accurate construction drawings, a detailed and accurate bill of materials as well as a customer quote — all in just minutes and at a cost that is far less than might be anticipated — separates Decking Manager from all the rest.
Knight goes on to emphasize that, "in addition to the unique capabilities of the Decking Manager system, the most exciting thing about Decking Manager is the opportunity it affords the building material dealer to profit in multiple ways. First of course, is doing on-the-spot in-store estimates for consumers, and the resulting material sales that are generated. Second however, is getting the system into the hands of deck-building contractors, populated with the building material dealer's SKU and pricing information. Doing so provides the opportunity to generate increased profits in multiple ways."
Decking Manager is available now from BizPortz, Inc., Lawrence, KS.

Former NFBA President Expands Software Business
Lawrence, KS – Having served as the chief paid executive for the National Frame Building Association since 1978, former NFBA President James T. (Tom) Knight will resign his NFBA staff position effective September 1, 2009. Knight will pursue the growth and development of two software companies that he founded in 2000 and 2001.
One of Knight's companies, BizPortz, Inc., is the developer of several building takeoff and estimating systems. PostFrame Manager© software is the only estimating tool of its kind that provides real-time 3D rendering and a virtual walkthrough of a new building, right before a customer's eyes. In just a few minutes, a builder can custom-design a post-frame structure to almost any customer's specifications and immediately provide a price. The system generates details such as shop drawings and builder method-specific material lists, and provides outer shell and interior walls, ceilings, doors and windows design for more than one floor and/or multiple wings. Post-Frame Manager© is available in various versions covering both agricultural and commercial building applications. New modules are also now available for stud-wall, steel-frame, and structural insulated panel building systems, as well as metal and alternative roofing systems.
According to Knight: "With an established user base throughout the U.S., BizPortz has been expanding rapidly. Although I established the company, I have not been involved with it for some time. Now that I'm no longer the chief executive for NFBA, I will be more personally involved with marketing, management, service and development."
Work Comp Associates, a second company founded by Knight in 2001, is the developer of the ComplyAbility© system. ComplyAbility© is an online human resource management, educational outreach and training system that includes two key components for regulatory compliance: comprehension testing and performance tracking. Developed initially for small businesses, an increasing number of associations have recognized the ComplyAbility© system also for its ability to deliver online education and training to members and their respective employees.
"Unfortunately for those of us who manage small- to medium-sized businesses, there are a seemingly endless number of federally-mandated employee training requirements," says Knight. "Safety violations and lawsuits can cripple or destroy a company. Documented education and training can provide compliance with the law, and an affirmative defense that can be pivotal to the outcome in many cases. ComplyAbility helps your company comply with the law, by keeping an online record of training and comprehension – for a very low cost."
