We had some difficult curved flashing conditions that Moriartys took care of very creatively using PVC coated sheet metal in unusual ways. Comment: Moriartys stood out from the other roofing companies with their respectful approach to partnering with me on my roof. As opposed to other companies who came with a strong sales energy, I felt respected and a partner in the roofing project. I was educated rather than talked down to, I was considered a decision maker even though i didnt have a male partner on the project with me and the whole operation from start to finish was professional and as planned. They do not use sub-contractors for their work (many of the people that come to give you a quote are brokers and not actually doing the work - be aware when looking for a roofing company). I would highly, highly recommend Moriartys Roofing! The quality, integrity and professionalism was top notch!

I have NEVER worked with a team of harder working folk, completely sensitive to my over the top English garden. I didnt find a dime size piece of the old roof anywhere !!! that is a first. Comment: I actually didnt use them, however one of my Neighbors did. And I have to say to me it appears they did an exceptional job, and were very professional. This is a roof I see out of all the windows on the left side of my house and they had to actually reconstruct an area where the overhang was blocking them from doing a proper job where the roofs connect.On top of that, even though I was a #&^&%*!*^ to the team lead when I saw him showing the neighbors there was more work after Id had some bad experiences with other folks in the area. So, even though I was talking smack, he smiled and didnt say a word (and boy, I can think of some words if I was on the other side).Anyway...very professional, great job of cleaning up after themselves, not much mess, little fuss, and a clean job. What more could anyone want...well, except perhaps a free roof! :-)

Maddie, Matthew and another gentleman (sorry I didn’t catch your name) were all really interested in my project. Comment: First, on deciding who to use to replace our roof, we called a few roofing companies, Moriarty roofing was incredibly responsive and created a bid and project outline in an extremely timely manner. The estimator answered all my questions and guided me towards making good choices. The second phase of installation was exceptional once the process started. Shout out to Rick who over saw my project, he came by every day, his crew worked diligently and kept a clean work environment. Any glitches were addressed and taken care of immediately. The work was done professionally, and cleanly. Their billing system can get a little involved, especially if there is a change order i.e. unseen problems encountered during the preliminary stripping of the old roof. I would recommend them to anyone. They are not the cheapest, but who wants a cheap roof >

Comment: After selecting Moriarty to re-roof my home a representative came out to inspect roof . He was very polite and thorough . The crew arrived on time a couple of days later . They placed tarps around my whole deck for protection . They were here for two days and very professional and hard working . They let me know that some plywood was missing in sections and the chimney needed flashing during demolition and just fixed it without any delay . Upon completion they cleaned and blew off the deck . Fortunately there wasn’t any roof rot or complications so our job came in right around their estimate and they even did some extras, like reroute our rain gutter to prevent a similar leak from occurring.Only constructive criticisms I have is they could be more responsive and proactive in letting us know the schedule and when to expect them to be onsite and not. Also, we asked for an estimate for new gutters that apparently got lost in the shuffle and never materialized.

Comment: In early 2023, we experienced an unusual amount of snowfall. We had about 12 of snow. On a sunny day, the snow on our steep metal roof came tumbling down and ripped-out two vent stacks and bent two sections of gutters with leaf guards. We were especially concerned because not many roofing companies install/repair metal roofs, and the repair may be considered a small job. Also, in general, its difficult to get contractors to come to our mountain location. Well, we got requested repair quotes from two roofing companies, one of which was Moriarty. Moriarty was responsive and provided emailed a quote like they said they would. The Moriarty rep was friendly and patiently answered our questions. The other roofing company sent a representative to look at our roof, but they never bothered to send us a quote. We accepted Moriartys quote, and we shortly received a call to schedule the work. The workers showed-up as scheduled and did an excellent job. Also, in addition to the repair, we asked the workers to install some fine wire mesh over two of our attic vents to block-out wildfire embers. Installing the mesh was no small feat since the vents were just below the roof line at the highest peaks of our multi-story house with a very steep metal roof. I give Moriarty an A+.

Comment: Our roof started leaking during the big winter storms in January, and our realtor recommended working with Moriartys to have a new roof put on. They were pretty busy so it took a while for our house to come to the top of their queue, but once they got started, the work was completed very quickly. There are a lot of options for roof and gutter colors and materials, but the Moriartys staff were able to help us choose a combination that looks nice on our house. The work was completed about 2 months ago and we havent had any big storms since then, but it seems like they did a good job! They did their best to clean up nails from our driveway and yard, but we still found some once theyd left, so be sure to check your surroundings carefully! Rusty old roof nails are exactly the same color as the redwood duff thats all over our yard, so the nails were very hard to see.

Professional, friendly, and excellent work in Santa Cruz!They did an excellent job for us in April 2023.We live in the Santa Cruz Live Oak area and looked for a company to re-roof the roof of our one-story 3-bedroom house which began to show some leaks during the last winter storm.David was one of the first who contacted us. He explained everything in detail, was friendly, and listened to our concerns and questions.The initial quote was competitive to others. In the end the cost came out higher because we needed plywood and had to fix some structural issues.The entire re-roofing took 4 days. The crew drove in exactly at 7:30am every day. They were friendly, courteous, and cleaned up everything around the house every day.The solar panels we had installed had to be removed by another company first and later reinstalled. This caused some complications with additional bureaucracy, but Moriarty continued to support where they could.There were a few people we interacted with beside David, such as Rick (the superintendent), Jose of the crew, Grant, and Kelly.We are happy. After getting quotes from 4 companies in the area I picked Moriarty.Their ratings and number of roofs installed locally were both very impressive. Not knowing how much rain we would receive in Dec. Jan. Feb. March and even into April I was anxious to get a new roof, having ordered it in November. Yet during that time I received updates on installation on appreciated the staff for keeping me informed.Because our job required 6 days to complete as our roof had to have new plywood installed and repair of some structural eves and dry rot. It was a big job.The day of the tear off, the Moriarty team were incredible! From the team getting the house and plants protected to the carpenters, tear off crew to the installers of CertainTeed presidential they were all very nice and very professional.You can tell a lot about a company when the employees laughed at lunchtime helped each other and could tell they liked what 5hey did and enjoyed working for Moriarty Roofing.We are very pleased and happy to recommend them.

The estimator noticed that the roof on the ADU might pose a problem for the installers since it had shake under asphalt tiles; it was great to know it wasnt going to cause any delay the day of the installation. They also came up with a great solution for the new gutter and downspout to connect to a rain barrel (we provided) behind the structure. The actual installation was quick and professional, and they cleaned everything up afterward. Highly recommend!

Comment: My neighbor and I share a roof over our building. We recently found ourselves in need of gutter repair. A Moriarty’s roofing technician came out to inspect our project and to give us an estimate. After careful examination it was determined that just replacing the gutters would be a stop gap measure since a lot of the fascia was old and damaged as well. The recommendation was to go for a new roof. My neighbor had a contractor he liked and asked him for an estimate. We decided to get an estimate from Moriarty’s as well. The Moriarty’s estimate was detailed, provided for several options, and the total price was estimated at about half the cost of the other contractor. The technician made it very clear that there might be additional costs because he could not assess the condition of the underlayment etc. We agreed on the choices, the price and the plan. We had two “change orders” which were both necessary and very reasonably priced. All my communications with Moriarty’s technicians and customer service staff, were prompt, professional and very friendly. The crew did a fantastic job!I would happily use them again and highly recommend them.

Comment: We selected Moriarty for our roofing ahead of a solar install based on several recommendations. From my first request for a quote to the final inspection the company was great. Communication was always excellent and prompt. Comment: I discovered I had a leak in my kitchen roof during the recent storms in the Santa Cruz mountains. I called Moriarity hoping someone would be available to come check my roof as soon as possible. As it turned out, they called someone that was in the field, and that person was able to come and check out our roof within hour. After they arrived, a second Moriarity truck also arrived, and together the three employees assessed the situation and began to make some repairs. Within a couple of hours, the first, now drenched employee, told me what repairs he had done to help patch our roof, and went on his way. This patch seemed to be sufficient, at least for now, and we had no more leaks during that and subsequent rainfall. I was so appreciative of the quick service from Moriarity’s Roofing and the can-do attitude of the workers to get the repair done in the middle of a storm! First they used vinyl roofing to finally fix leaking coves around my dormer windows on my home which roofers using traditional shingle products never solved. Comment: Called 7 different roofing companies, only 2 came out, and only Moriartys came out and talked with me about the damage and work needed and even gave me a very reasonable quote for the work despite the ridiculous cost of lumber this last year or so. Roof was repaired within the same timeframe that they said it would be for the cost they said it would be despite finding some more damage that they took care of at no extra charge. Comment: We had a few bids to replace a big section of roofing on our beach-front property. The site takes a lot of abuse due to direct exposure to harsh coast weather. The first time was a major tile roof retrofit to accommodate solar panel installation (remove barrel roof tiles, install composition underlayment, reinstall the roof tiles around the solar panels.) Comment: I had some leaks in the winter of 2019 and called Moriarty roofing to come see about doing a repair, and they responded within 1 day, came out to the site and inspected the roof, explaining what they discovered, and then provided me with a binding quote for a partial or complete re-roofing. As it was an old roof, we went with a re-roof and in the process they communicated well with me with respect to timing and came in on time, though the estimate increased because they had to add a complete layer of plywood as the roof previously didnt have any which increased the cost 50%. They arrived at the promised time each day (unusual for Santa Cruz) and delivered high quality workmanship at a fair price. They were on time for all appointments and gave us a thorough explanation of what they would be doing as well as going through all our options, and making recommendations. It is the little things like recommending to go with round downspouts instead of square ones because you wont get the incessant dripping noise after a rain as the roof continues to drain that last bits of water. During installation anytime there was a question about where we would like something they made sure to ask and go through all the options available. The flashing method that they use also means that if anything ever changes we can get the slope corrected again and not have to worry about any costly adjustments. We did a complete tear off of the roof on our ~1800 sq ft home and attached garage, which was replaced by shingles and a vinyl material on the flat sections. Next they repaired a fair amount of water damage above our sunroom. They also installed 8 fancy new skylights from Velux. Finally they replaced our gutters and downspouts. We also had them install these mesh screen gutter covers so that we never have to clean out our gutters again. The results are phenomenal! Everyone was very professional throughout the entire process. The entire team (some days up to 12 guys on the job) took the time to listen to our concerns and answer all of our questions. I highly recommend Moriartys to anyone looking for any of the services Ive mentioned.

Comment: We used to get the gutters on our three-story house cleaned once a year. The house is flanked by large redwood trees that throw off a lot of limbs and needles. This year some of the gutter segments were not draining properly, so I decided to go with a roofing/gutter firm for a cleaning and general inspection. An appointment was promptly made and Kevin came out for the estimate. He was great and inspired confidence to the degree that I didn’t feel the need to look for any other contractors. I got a discount for waiting until February (rainy season? We wish!) and they got on it end of January. Work was completed in consecutive days, including repairs, and gutters and leaf guards came soon after. Workers were respectful and cleaned up well after themselves. The only challenge was that we got a different impression from their estimator re: the likely start-up date than what we were subsequently told. However, when we expressed concern of the likelihood of upcoming rains, the company was able to accommodate us and moved ahead quickly to perform and complete the project. They did a great job. Comment: A few years ago Moriartys Roofing replaced my wood shingled roof with 40 year comp shingles and did a great job for a fair price, so when I recently needed to replace my flat roof decks after 35 years, it was an easy choice to go with them again. Being the peak season for roof work, and being that my job was a small three day job, I did have to wait for a few weeks after signing the contract for them to squeeze my roof in, but, once started, they fully committed to the job and were in and out in a flash, leaving a new roof surface and nothing left to clean up. Weve had a few downpours and everything is dry inside and draining off quickly. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them for any roofing project.

Comment: I have recently bought a house in Santa Cruz mountains, and was planning to install solar panels on its roof. However, there were two skylights, which I felt were useless and only occupied space I could use for the solar panels (and also the biggest heat leak in the house), so I called Moriartys to get these skylights removed, renew the roof and add some insulation as well.The team working on my rood was amazing! They made sure that Im aware of any problems theyve discovered once theyd started working - it it a very old house, after all, so naturally there were some flaws with how the roof was originally done. Comment: After a rather windy storm event, we noticed water staining on our ceiling of our home in Soquel. After calling several roofing companies, most were booked solid because the the recent rains. While Moriartys were booked up as well, they took the time to make sure we got on the schedule for an inspection.Once they came out to inspect, they saw issues with our chimney saw that was where the issue was. they inspected the whole roof and (happily) said that we had 3-5 more years in the roof, with just a few minor repairs that they could do.Less than a week goes by and they call back saying they can move us up on the schedule and they were out the next day. Comment: We just moved into our new home in June and knew that the previous owners had had some roof leaks previously, but had told us that they fixed it. This was not the case.After the first rains of the season, we came home to a huge puddle on our floor. We got on the phone to about 5 different roofing companies. Moriartys was the first to call back and the first to schedule an appointment to check out the issue. Frank came out on a rainy day. He couldnt go up to the roof, but just from the ground he diagnosed the issue: the flashing around the chimney.They scheduled us for two weeks out when the rain cleared up. However, the rain let up sooner and they got out to us sooner. They kept in contact through phone calls and text messages, which made it really convenient. They discovered that the bad flashing led to some other issues like dry rot, which they fixed for us too. Im sure they could have suggested replacing all the wood around the chimney, but they fixed only what needed to be fixed and didnt break our bank.The roofers were polite and finished the job ahead of schedule. They left the site clean and even brought down and refolded my tarp that was I was using to block the rain.I highly recommend them for any roofing job.

They did a good job of discussing extras with us and breaking out costs for options as we removed old roofing and found damage to the sheathing and skylight frames. Scheduling, invoicing and getting the last 5% of the roofing project 100% completed was not as smooth, mainly because they were coordinating the schedule and invoicing with the solar system contractor and they had to squeeze us into their schedule in order to meet the solar contractors schedule.
