Comment: Great experience with Modern Builders. I have found that it is really challenging to find good contractors who are reliable, punctual, reasonably priced and do great work. These guys gave me a fast quote, schedule me, confirmed and arrived early. They also underpromised and over delivered in my view, estimating a 1-2 day job and completing everything in one day despite encountering unexpected challenges. Not only that, these guys really went above and beyond doing work that confirmed the old school style of my home. These guys are top notch, professional, and damn good. I was reluctant to give such a good review for concern that they won’t be available when I need them again but it’s alright, these guys deserve it!

Comment: A huge thank you to Modern Builders! We cannot say enough about the quality and professionalism of their work. Nelson was absolutely fantastic and an artist at resurfacing our stucco. He went above and beyond to ensure we were happy with the job.We had the unfortunate experience of having to put the project on hold for a week in the middle due to weather and Nelson took the time to take up all of the protective tarps from the ground and all the construction bits to ensure that our dog would be able to happily and safely utilize the yard during the break. That is care!And what a transformation! It’s like a new home. Our house went from an unattractive green popcorn finish to a beautiful smooth coconut finish. Thank you to Nelson, Brian, Isai and the whole Modern Builders team.

Comment: This review is long overdue. Almost 2 years ago, due to trimming a tree, our roof (especially the flat roof portion) was greatly damaged and rain would cause a lot of leaking. I began to search for someone to repair our roof without necessarily replacing it.Bryan got back to me quickly and came to do an assessment. Both my husband and I felt that Bryan was friendly (but not in a salesman type way), and knowledgeable. He later gave us a quote but my aunt felt that I could find someone cheaper. I told Bryan that we unfortunately were going to go with someone else and he was very understanding and gracious.The other company we found was indeed cheaper, however, they were very skeptical that anything would work except to replace the roof. We asked them for another way so they painted a roof coat.The following 2 rains, not only did our roof continue to leak, it actually seemed worse (there were even more number of leaks). We called the company and they said there wasnt much else they could do. We asked at least for a tarpauline and they brought one for us but that didnt do anything to improve the leaking.I let my aunt know that I really wanted to try to ask Modern Builders to come out again and see if they could fix it. This time Javier came out and he immediately detected that the roof paint used by the previous company was the wrong kind and would actually absorb water. He later gave us a quote and we went with Modern Builders. Soon after, there were several rains. My husband and I crossed our fingers and held our breaths. There was one little leak and it later stopped. We felt relieved that though the leak hadnt completely stopped, there was massive improvement.Since that rain, there have been 2 more plus today (11/15/23). It was pretty heavy but there was not one single leak. Can I just say that we feel extremely grateful, relieved and so happy?!Lesson learned: save money and a headace and just go with Modern Builders the first time around.

They removed our old drywall, adjusted our framing to add a pocket door, helped adjust electrical, added insulation, new drywall and painted. They really did a great job, we’re very happy with our updated space! Bryan was great on communication, and had his crew showing up when scheduled, and those guys were very accommodating while I was able to talk through small adjustments throughout the process. Pricing was fair and transparent from the start. Overall, we’re super happy and we highly recommend using Modern builders for your next project!

Comment: After learning from a plumber that we had rotted wood under our toilet and being told to get it repaired to avoid a cave-in to the kitchen below, I contacted Modern Builders for an estimate. Bryan came out the same day and said it was an easy repair and provided a very reasonable estimate. Bryan’s team replaced the rotting wood under the toilets in 2 bathrooms, replaced the flooring, and installed new toilets. They also fixed the crack in the kitchen ceiling from the leaky bathroom above with drywall and a perfect paint match. I am very pleased with the service and quality of the materials used. Bryan kept in constant contact with me letting me know times and dates. I will definitely call on Bryan and Modern Builders for any future projects.

The first time when he visited our home and discussed everything about our re-roofing need, I was quite sure I would hire him to do the job, and finally I did after comparing with 3 other companies. Today, the project is finally completed. Even though it took longer than originally told, but it was not 100% their fault. Simply put, I am very satisfied with the job they have done. Bryan is always there for you so you can ask any questions by emails, by texts or phones. While the foreman, Javier, impressed me very much as well. He always carefully listened to whatever questions that I have, big or small, and jumped into action right away to solve the problems, even with extra miles. Comment: Bryan, Javier and the roofing crew were a Godsend. My grandfather and have been planning getting a new roof for 10 years. I contacted Modern Builders and Bryan answered all of my questions at all different times of the day/week and took care of the city permit process. The house had 3 layers of roofing to be removed with many nails all during LAs craziest heatwave. The crew worked hard to restore damaged wood before roofing and cleaned up every day. They were very professional and communicated their arrival time for the next day. They framed out and restored a new covered porch with the roof replacement. They also helped demo our old, unstable patio cover and hauled away all the trash. The day before their last day working the crew reroofed my dogs house to match because not only did my grandpa roof the house, he roofed the dog house. I was pleased with the end result. Roof looks great and we are thankful. The roof included a 10‐year warranty. I would recommend Modern Builders to others. Thank you🙏💐

Frank arrived on time, was extremely knowledgeable in the work needed, and performed a comprehensive walkthrough to ensure nothing was missed. Updates throughout the process with photos so Im able to get a good idea of things that may come up even if Im not able to be at the site 100% of the time. Job site was always left in good condition.He has done two jobs for me thus far: re-roofing a garage in Monterey Park (with permits) and what started as a simple replacement of a tile roof metal valley on an 100 year old home. As he took out the rotted metal valley, he found that much of the plywood didnt look good, and upon removing the plywood, found that many of the roofing joists werent in good condition either. Bryan worked with me given the cost of the change orders and wanted to make sure things were taken care of properly. I checked work all along the way and it seemed like the work was appropriate & quality. I would not hesitate to use Bryan again and refer to friends / clients!

Comment: I called Modern Builders and talked to Bryan on a Sunday (01/16/22) and they responded RIGHT AWAY on the same day! The fact that they responded back on a Sunday was already a great start in my eyes. They were able to give me a great quote the next day and compared to the other ones I had received, I had decided to move forward with them for my exterior paint job. They started the following week (1/24/22) and completed the job by the end of the week on time as they promised.It was a full respray on my house including the body, facia boards, trim and the eaves!The work was immaculate and exactly as described. They were very clean through out the whole process and very professional which was a plus in my books.I will DEFINITELY be recommending them to all my friends and family.Bryan and Modern Builders are gonna be my go to contractors from here on out for all my future drywall and painting projects!
