Comment: I cant say enough good things about my experience with Johnson Solar. The owner works with you specifically and not a hired salesman. I have had the solar system running for 6 months without any problem. You can see what you are generating at any time. My SDGE bills have been virtually non existent. Comment: Clint from Johnson Solar was very easy to work with even with the mad crunch of everyone trying to get their solar installed before end of NEM 2.0. I have a very steep roof with lots of angles but we were able to get 17 panels up and theyre producing electricity quite well for about a month now. It was also supposed to rain heavy with 20 mile an hour winds the day of install so wanting to avoid injury Clint pushed it back to early the following week. Install was done within a day. Time will tell how the electricity via panels averages out as I have most facing south, but a few facing strictly east for morning sun, and west for afternoon sun. Just the way my roof had to accommodate the panels. At this point, can highly recommend Johnson Solar for your solar installation.

I had already shopped around a bit for rooftop solar and sure enough when I talked to Clinton at Johnson solar, he stood out as the most upfront and honest. I sent him my information, a few photos of my house, electrical panel and past utility bills so he could size an appropriate system. I was emailed a few system size options with quotes to choose from within a couple of days. There was no pressuring me, no things that did not sound right and no surprises. The prices looked great was in writing, and the type of panels and other components were very top quality. They were doing some large projects at the time but managed to squeeze me in somehow. Clinton and all his crew were great to have working at my house. The system was in within a few weeks time looks professional and is beyond my expectations. This is about getting in, and getting it done. There rates are super competitive, no BS, you pay them, they do work. I dont need to talk to people about stuff that is basic. The average cost was approximately $24,000.00 for 20 panels.The price was too high for me, so I did not have the work done.Last May, my friend in Alpine had solar panels placed on his roof. I decided to check into having the work performed on my home.I checked with four different companies. The number of panels was from 11 to 15. The price was within $4,000.00 among the four companies bids.One of the companies was a referral from another friend of mine who had just recently had solar placed on his roof.That Company was Johnson Solar. They had the best panels, in my opinion and the best price. After talking to some of my neighbors, I determined that my panels are generating more KW than theirs are.From the quote to the system turn on, it was less than three weeks. It took one day for the installation, and you would never have known the crew were here. I did keep them well hydrated with water and Gatorade.Considering I am on a fixed retirement income, today was a joyful day when I received my SDGE bill in the mail. This bill was covered by 100% solar. The bill read, “No payment is due. Your account has a credit balance of” over one hundred dollars. (My words) My normal bill, this time of the year would have been between $200.00 and $300.00 for a 2000 square foot home.Overall this has been a huge positive investment. Comment: These guys are the real deal. I shopped around for about a year and talked to about half dozen installers. The thing that distinguished Johnson was that the owner, Clinton, called me back himself right away. Hes a straight shooter, no need for a slick folder of brochures, no need to BS or coax you. Youre talking to the owner and this guy is driven to get things done efficiently and well.Clinton was totally patient with me working on the design, willing to tweak things and make changes to make sure my wife would be happy with the look of the result. We ended up choosing the QCELL all-black cells so theyd nicer and sit narrower. Clinton never upsold me or pushed me on the cells, while competitors I felt like had some kind of skin in the game and would push me toward particular cells, maybe for their own reasons. He did strongly recommended the enphase microinverter system, and when I investigated a lot of people agree that its just got the nicest apps & software, and is the cheapest to maintain over the long term.The roofing crew and the electric/installer crew were both happy and efficient. To me thats always a good sign -- a happy, focused crew is faster and does better work. The roofers had a cheerful kind of assembly-line approach to moving around the concrete tiles, chatting and smiling. Same thing for the electric/installer crew. Everyone seemed like they had the lightbulbs on up there in the attic. Efficient and intelligent.I dont usually bother to write reviews, but this business is the real deal and I wish Clinton and Jose and Raphael and everyone involved nothing but the best of continued success. We spoke with several companies and found Johnson through reviews the Nextdoor app. It was a no nonsense process. Only after getting a quote from Johnson did all the other companies start lowering their prices for the job which they still didn’t beat because Johnson was able to get the job done faster. It was a quick and easy process. They had the panels up and ready in a day& the permit came through within a week. This was a minor job considering Johnson *Solar* is in the business of installing complete residential solar power systems but Clinton, the owner, responded within an hour of my ProReferral query to offer his services. Im a professional engineer in the defense industry and we were able to talk a lot of technical details. He is very knowledgeable and was more than happy to discuss various installation options. What I appreciated most was that he was very responsive to both email and text messaging ... Ive worked with other contractors who have been quite difficult to communicate with. His crew showed up as scheduled and were very efficient and courteous. At one point we worked together to figure out how the speed control worked on one of the fans ... great guys! While the job he performed for me was relatively minor, my positive interactions with him and his crew reflect very well on his business and work ethic. That is how Johnson Solar was recommended to me by a friend who is the second most demanding, frugal, detail oriented person I know (who also happens to be a contractor). None the less, before I hired Andre I had my most demanding, frugal, detail oriented friend (who happens to be an engineer) put him through the wringer. Johnson solar added 6 panels to my existing 11 panel system. They did the job in a single day and also worked with me to fix some roof damage they observed during the install. Of the 10 or more installers I have interviewed Clinton was the ONLY person who was willing to itemize all the costs and let me pay for the materials. This way I paid Clinton for his time and I paid directly for the hardware. We called with a few questions and the next day Clinton was out first thing in the morning to give us a price and explain all the details. Within 24 hours our panels were in place running backwards in rabbit mode. Comment: We had our solar electricity system installed by Clint Johnson in September 2018. We purchased our mid-century modern home in May 2018. My wife and I were excited to start restoring the “Rockin’ H Ranch” to its 1961 glory. On the month that our SDGE electric bill climber to over $800 (GRRRR!!!) we decided it was time to bring the ranch into the 21 Century by going solar. After the installation of our system, the bill has virtually gone to zero!Clint spent two hours with us during our initial meeting to insure that we fully understood the available options in the solar market. Clint explained the difference between high end name brand panels and the more economical manufacturers, calculating kilowatts of power requirements, battery vs. no battery, etc. Clint provided the options and allowed us to make our decisions, no hype, no up-sell, no pressure, NO PROBLEM. The system was installed by Clint’s team of professionals in a very timely manner and it looks great. In addition to the solar system, Clint provided us with an updated electrical panel at about two thirds the cost of other electricians we received quotes from. Our turn-key system from Clint has proved to be economical and effective.One word of caution; make sure you are ready for action when you put Clint to work. From initial deposit to feeding electricity back to the grid for credit took about two weeks! To say that we are extremely pleased with Johnson Solar would be an understatement.
