Comment: I contacted Century Roof and Solar around six months ago to bid on replacing my roof and installing solar. This is an involved and time-consuming process, and they were patient with me every step of the way - answering all my questions and explaining everything I cared to understand. Tony has a wealth of both historical and current knowledge regarding the solar industry in general, and the details of installing in California specifically.They were patient while we negotiated various approvals with our HOA, and when we were finally ready to go they were quick and efficient - removing the old roof, patching water damage they discovered, installing the new decking, sheathing, and shingles, and adding the solar setup in only six working days.Our overall experience with this company and its staff was phenomenal. The onsite personnel were happy to answer any questions I had, would immediately come to me for approval on any incidental items, and overall seemed to do things very much by the book - a trait I personally very much appreciate. Im far from an expert in roofing, but the work and materials all look great and are of high quality. Ive had several neighbors ask me about the company based on the appearance of their work. Permits and inspections were handled effectively, and were very much enjoying our new roof and solar.I would not hesitate to use Century Roof and Solar again, and fully intend to contact them in the future to bid on a battery backup system.

Comment: BREAKING NEWS: Because I had listened to Tony Diaz of Century Roofing & Solar in purchasing a GAF Golden Pledge Ltd. Roofing Warranty 14 years ago; just this week Century Roofing and Solar just completed installing a brand new GAF replacement roof on my home in Castro Valley and all @ GAF’s expense. Yes, Tony Diaz and all of his work crews at Century Roofing and Solar are the best of the best in the industry. Each of Tonys various work teams are diligent in what they do and are extremely hardworking and most importantly punctual on a daily basis. They start early in the morning and continue throughout the day until the late afternoon. Also, they are all extremely detail oriented in all of their specific tasks; and there professional results speak for themselves. My roof replacement was completed in six days and WOW, it is absolutely beautiful. Between the newly installed GAF ​​carbon shingles and newly fabricated dark brown gutters, it really makes the front of my house stand out in an attractive overview. This was not about installing another new layer of roofing materials on an existing roof but worse; the removal of a shack roof, laying down a new roofing membrane then installing a certified new Century Roof. The professional advice which we were given by Tony was sound and the communication, consultation, bid, execution and completion of the project were all rock solid and quite honestly exceeded our expectations. We felt so confident with Tonys Team that we also hired him back again last summer to install some brand new attic exhaust fans another significant mini project done extremely well, within budget and on time! Comment: When I shop my solar project, I was suggested to put the solar panels on ground racks instead of roof, or change the roof area under the solar panels from tile to shingles because my roof is light weight tile (some people call it Spanish roof). I contact Tony, who did my roof 20 years ago and found that Century do solar project too, and they can install the Sunpower panels on my roof. Installation and roof repair completed professionally within my expected timeframe. Unluckly, we had unexpected issues with the inspection. It is my old house problem, nothing due to the solar system, but Tony is so nice to solve the issue for me and get my permit. THANK YOU TONY.

They clearly explained the process, were on time, the staff is very courteous, and the workmanship is excellent. Comment: Solar System Installation & Electrical Upgrade (Oct-Nov 2021)I cannot say enough about Tony Diaz and his Century Roof & Solar company and project team - Dan, Luciano, Emilio, and Elena. My wife and I had a wonderful experience with our solar project.Century installed our SunPower 4.62Kwh with a Sunpower Sunvault battery backup system, did a complete home electrical upgrade, and added new or replaced old light fixtures for LED conversion. The project was major, but from start to finish, everything ran smoothly like clockwork. As with any older homes, we had a few unexpected issues, but Century quickly assessed and resolved them.Our house needed a complete electrical upgrade to meet safety requirements and maximize solar energy use. Century is an electrical contractor and has certified in-house electricians, so from our standpoint, they are conveniently a one-stop shopping business. This was a relief because other electricians we contacted were either non-responsive or knew nothing about preparing home electrical for solar. In contrast Century is well versed on both Solar and general Home Electrical.Our whole project was done in a highly professional manner. The expertise and recommendations that Tony and Dan (electricians) offered were invaluable. Comment: Tony, Elena, and their crew are just great. Knowledgeable, helpful, friendly.We had a small fire which took out a 100 amp branch circuit feeding our back yard. Because there were some sensitive things on that circuit, we needed it back up and running ASAP. Century had done our roof and solar array several years ago. Because they had done such a great job then, they were the first I thought of to help us out this time.On Monday, Elena responded first and quickly got Tony involved. They inspected on Tuesday. As it was a large job to repull the entire circuit, they needed to order materials and schedule the crew. They arrived on Friday and did all of the demo and setup. Slight hiccup on one item, but they handled that and powered through. Finished up early on Monday and we were back in business.Century will be first on my list for any future electrical, roofing, or solar work.

They are Diamond Certified and did a great job with our new roof several years ago( my daughter and son-in-law also used them...) We got 3 quotes for a solar panel system( Sunpower) with backup Sunpower battery. Century was actually the lowest bid. We called around for references and word has it that Tony Diaz is one of the best, most knowledgeable electrical contractors in Northern California. He apparently trains others in the how-to-dos of solar system installation. The results are even.better than we hoped for...we have a number of gables on our roof but the conduit lines are clean, well hidden. Tony actually ran one under our house. Installation is complicated with numerous inspections and approvals required. Tony kept the process moving along well and did the requisite forms and diagrams for PGE for us. We have dealt with many contractors over the years and would give our highest recommendation for Century Roof and Solar to anyone considering installation.

Comment: I was recently considering a new roof and solar array installation at my home in San Ramon and called Century Roof and Solar for a bid. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond my control, this project had to be shelved for a couple years. However, since Tony Diaz, the owner of Century Roof and Solar in Hayward, CA, is also a fully licensed electrician he offered to do a needed upgrade to my main electrical panel in advance of the new solar system. He did a perfect job of installing a beautiful, modern, new “solar ready” main panel from which he also ran a new arc-fault protected 50amp outlet for EV charging. He accomplished this at price parity with another local electrician’s bid, but went beyond the other offer by including a whole-house surge protector in this new panel and handling the stucco patch around the panel “in house.” My other bidder on the job specified that “stucco patch to be done by others.” Since I don’t have ready access to such a technician this was a big plus in terms of choosing Tony for the project.Tony managed to get my job done in one day, despite the rainy weather that greeted our agreed-upon installation day. Thus I was not be left without power over night in mid-March. To accomplish this there had to be some very adroit interactions with both the PG&E representative and the city inspector. In this respect Tony’s experience, knowledge and communication talents really did shine.Communication with Tony, before and after the job was done, was clear, prompt and easy. He entertained all my questions and concerns without hesitation, condescension, or sense that I was over-burdening him. It is also noteworthy how respectfully and smoothly the Century Roofing team works together. As a home-owner who likes to hover a bit and learn what he can when projects are ongoing, I can say they were a pleasure to be around. Also Tony’s plain-spoken and infectious enthusiasm for the project at hand has left me solidly feeling that I received the highest possible value for the money spent. I now have total confidence that when we finally engage in the roof and solar project it too will be a high-value job, superbly done.

It makes me confident that my house is safe and protected from the top down.I got 3-4 quotes and Century was a little under the top quote, but that makes sense when you consider I got Ultra HD shingles, steel gutters custom made on premise, new siding, fireplace caps, skylights, and an entire solar system plus paid extra for a longer warranty. Well worth it given how impeccably the work turned out and the attention to detail his crew gave to each element of the job. They were additionally flexible to work with other contractors to enable them to put in insulation and lights while still getting the job done.The most challenging part of the job was timing to get started. Because of Tonys reputation (I learned about him from a friend who also have a beautiful new roof), he books up months ahead so his quoted start date was the farthest out and then we got impacted by weather and manufacturer shortage of panels.However Tony was also flexible around our schedule for starting the job and once we were a go the job moved quickly and our massive roof was done in 2 weeks plus inspections. He checked in every couple of days with updates as things changed (and they do change as you should expect all house projects to Ive learned) but always had solutions. The only thing his team couldnt do was finish the ceiling/wall edge under my skylights that was exposed as the skylight was a different size than originally planned from the manufacturer. Every time I had a question Tony had great advice - he was right a lot.The team was super nice, respectful, responsive, and flexible. They take real pride in their work. The gutters especially - we still rave about them all the time, months later.To top if off Im getting money back from PG&E each month which is exactly what Tony calculated - I wanted a bit more than I was using before so I feel well prepared as my electrical needs grow in the future.Century is the first company I call now for any roof, solar, or related work - and the first I recommend.

Comment: Tony and his two-man crew were outstanding. It took 5 working days to install 20 Sunpower panels, run the wiring, install panel boxes, remove 2 whirlybirds, and replace them with a roof ridge line vent. Tony arranged for the inspector to come out the day after the work was done! That morning Tony arrived a couple hours early to make sure everything was looking good for the inspection and that the panels were generating power for the house. It not only passed, the inspector took pictures to use as examples for other installers. Tony then spent an hour answering my list of questions regarding next steps. Thankfully he was submitting the passed inspection information to PG&E and the technical info that goes along with it. The next day I was ccd on his email to PG&E. Five days later, I received an email confirmation from PG&E that the info Tony sent was processed and PG&E was recording credits for my system. Everything was completed in less than two weeks. Impressive from beginning to end.

Comment: Tony Diaz was a God sent. I had Solar but the company I dealt with last September 2018 went bankrupt . In January 2019 My Solar panel monitor showed four panels not working. After several calls to several Solar companies all said they would not or could not help me. Tony from Century Roof and Solar is the only one that went above and beyond working on the solar and contacting the Apsystem technical support team and managed to have four new inverters shipped to his location. It did not end there. I did not have to pay for the inverters. There were some hiccups (not with Century) his crew and Tony nstalled the inverters. What a professional and kind soul . His crew top performers. After fightingng with the original bankrupt Solar company since January 2019 I have all eleven panels working. Thank you Century Roof and Solar. Tony Diaz is the owner. A family owned company. Thank you Tony for putting up with all my emails and calls. I am so.happy.

Comment: I want to say up front that the owner has never asked me to write a review. This review is probably 13 years late but a recent experience prompted me to give Century Roof and Solar a BIG THUMBS up. 10 years after we purchased our home (new from the builder) we had some water intrusion problems, one that happened with the roof after a horrendous storm. We had some emergency work done by another roofing outfit on a weekend so price was NOT commensurate with work. After having a discussion with another close family member who had Century Roof and Solar (Tony) install a complete new tile roof, we gave Tony a call. Tony was extremely familiar with our specific roof product (he has testified as an expert witness on this type of roof) and we hired Tony to be our eyes and ears on our roof when our builder would be having their own expert examine the roof. During that inspection, Tony found many problems with the manner in which the roof had been installed and educated us so well that we prevailed in a court action against our builder. We then hired Tony to replace one third of the roof and have never since had a problem. During the entire time we were fighting with our builder and preparing for our day in court, Tony was always graciously there to answer our questions and continue to further educate us. He connected me with the roof manufacturer as well to enable us to become somewhat of experts ourselves. Afterward we hired Tony for a small rodent control job relating to the roof but other than that had no contact with him. Fast Forward 10 or 12 years to the summer of 2019 when I called Tony somewhat desperate seeking guidance on a roof matter our buyers were trying to turn a mole hill into a mountain. Tony was on vacation and called me back within an hour (it would have been faster but for poor cell phone service in his somewhat remote location). He spent 10 or 15 minutes of his family time talking to me about the situation and advising me. Tony is the ABSOLUTE BEST in the ROOFING industry. Tony is highly knowledgeable and patiently will share and explain the technical aspects of any roof installation. He is a person and business man of HIGHEST INTEGRITY. Tonys customer service is beyond what anyone could reasonably expect. As I recall from back in 2006 his staff was equally helpful when we were in an ugly situation. I trust Century Roof and Solar without a single doubt to do what is right for me and my roofing situation. He will always make recommendations and let you know what is critical, and what can wait. Tony I always wish you the best in your business.

Comment: About six years ago we called Century Roof and Solar after talking to some people who had a roof done by them. I had gotten an excellent review from them, so decided to call. Tony came out to give us an estimate. But, after looking at the roof, he said that it didnt look like it needed to be replaced yet and that we could probably get another five years out of it. We called Century Roof and Solar again six years later to ask for an estimate. I had also talked to a couple of other people who have had a roof replaced by Century Roof and Solar in the meantime. They all seemed pleased. We decided to go ahead. Having a total roof replacement isnt for the faint of heart because it is loud and and it shakes the house quite a lot. My husband was really impressed with the workers attention to detail and the fact that they didnt just rush through to get the job finished as soon as possible. The crew members were friendly and hard workers. They worked steadily all day each day. My husband said that the quality of the roof seems better than what he had been expecting. The whole project was very professional. Although I had very limited contact with the office staff, they were pleasant and helpful when I was in contact with them. Tony is very personable and was very attentive when we had questions or concerns. Very happy to have a new roof and very happy with Century Roof and Solar.

He provided clear explanation in helping us understand how the work would be carried out and the approximate project timing.His team did a fabulous job and cleaned up at the end of each work day. There was no stress! They completed the work as promised.It is a delight to see our beautifully installed roof every time we pull up the driveway. We trust Tony and want him to install the roof at my mom’s!!

Comment: Fantastic experience. When we started the process to get a new roof, we compared a few companies. Overall, Century was the most thorough with their contract, had excellent customer service, are Diamond certified, have excellent reviews with the manufacturer of the product, excellent reviews on Yelp, are a family business, and also local to my community. They were very competitively priced. The installation went great and on time. We had a small issue with a supplier mix-up. The wrong shingles were delivered (right manufacturer, correct color, but wrong series). Installation of the shingles had started when the issue was recognized. Century did the right thing: called us, took responsibility, and tore off what they started and got the right shingle on. Now, as someone who would not have known the difference and was so pleased with how the work was looking, I could not be more appreciative with their honesty. I wondered how many other companies would have just overlooked it, hoping that it was never recognized. The fact that they pointed this out and corrected the issue upfront, really makes them stand out in my opinion. Their crews are very professional and most importantly, respectful of you and your property. We had a particular structural issue that needed to be resolved on our roof. The issue causes water to shoot off the roof at high speeds and land on our vehicles. Century came out 2 times after installation to help come up with a solution that would stop this issue. We honestly could not be happier with this entire experience. For 2 people who are very particular, Century exceeded our expectations.
