Comment: We recently had CA Home Solar install our new roof solar system in time to meet the requirements for NEM 2.0 with SCE. The call was made to them back in late April, 2023, on a referral from a contractor friend, and from then on they handled it all for us. All the paperwork, the NEM 2.0 application, SCE correspondence, city permits, and electrical and panel installation. Yanni was out to the house a number of times to check on progress and his electrical contractor, Dan Kemme of Sunbelt Energy, did an outstanding job of laying out the grid, installing the electrical and a new larger 225 amp electrical panel (to replace our old 200 amp), and redoing the stucco around the new panel. The new panel was done to allow for gradual movement to all electric later as we replace water heaters, air conditioning, and kitchen appliances over the years. And also, so we did not have to re rate our old panel to 175 amps to allow for the solar install. Most all of the folks who quoted wanted to rerate, saves on the install cost but later costs more to redo. We have a Girard metal shingle roof which every installer we had spoken to before Ca Home Solar said we would have to reroof under the panels with asphalt shingles to allow for a proper installation. Dan was familiar with the roofing so he knew how to walk on it correctly and make the installation smoothly without requiring any additional roofing changes. So far we have been up for about a month and everything is operating well. We received PTO (Permission to operate) from SCE a few days ago so now we are good to go on the new billing system. Interestingly our 27 panels on the west side of the roof are generating about 62 kWh of power daily against our usage much less than that. It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the months ahead with time of use billing from SCE. I can certainly recommend Yanni, Dan, and their team.
