Comment: I reached out to B.P. Custom Roofing as I was looking for an experienced roofer that could assist with re-roofing my mid-century home with a low slope. My particular situation has added complexity as Im part of an HOA that dictates roofing materials, further limiting my options.I have been researching more modern roofing systems that could enable me to both meet my HOA roofing materials requirements and be compatible with my low-slope roof, and sent some findings to B.P. Custom Roofing to see if they would be willing to consider installing a roof using a newer, uncommon installation method. This system from an Australian company called Nu-lok promised tile roof installations with a pitch as low as 5 degrees. Now, most roofers have their own preferred systems and suppliers and are mostly in the game of churning out roofs, though B.P. Custom Roofing was clearly different. I had some small hope that B.P. Custom Roofings experience with unique installations would improve my chances of the Nu-lok system addressing my issues, so I reached out asking if theyd consider my job.Right away, Bill responded (on the weekend no less!) and provided his initial thoughts. He advised that they recently took on a large job that would keep his team busy through the end of the year, and thus were not able to provide any bids in the meantime. He explained the difficulty in providing bids in advance given the fluctuation of the cost of materials. To me, this was the first sign that Bill is running a quality operation- he was upfront and honest about what he could commit to, placing the priority on fulfilling the work hes committed to and level-set expectations of customers.Additionally, Bill took the time to look at the installation system I sent and he gave his impressions of some of the challenges I would be facing, including costs and testing standards and certifications that the local building inspectors would want to see. When I asked for some additional information of any specifics (to aid in my own knowledge in navigating the challenges of my situation), he obliged and offered up what information he could. He advised of considerations in working with my particular citys code requirements, provided phone numbers for suppliers to contact and advised on next steps. I know running a business commands time and attention, and even while it was clear that Bill would not be able to provide me a proposal he was generous with his time and knowledge to steer me in the right direction.If you need a new roof, I would recommend you contact Bill at B.P. Custom Roofing. If they are a good fit for your needs, I have no doubt you will be getting the highest possible quality and service at the best possible price.

Comment: Oh where do I start!! Bill was a referral from my best friend so it was a no brainer to begin this journey with his company. I had a 30 year roof that served us well but it was time. He is probably the most knowledgeable, most professional, and yes, most humorous contractor Ive ever met. Explains everything, brings samples, pics of my roof, recommendations. Pretty much covers it all in the first meeting. Lets do it!Jesus and crew arrive bright and early, all wearing company shirts. Bill brings water and donuts, boy I wish my boss brought me those things!! Amazing crew, they work so hard and meticulous. I happen to be a helicopter home owner but it didnt seem to bother them, always took time to answer my questions. Always cleaned up each day. Bill and Jesus even came at 3am when we had a flash rain that no one expected, not even the weather app!.It really does not get ANY better than this, I love my roof.

Comment: I rarely write reviews, but I found it important to go out of my way to post a positive review for B.P. Custom Roofing because Bill is simply amazing. The effort, care, and detail he puts into his work exceeds that of every other company I had considered to replace my roof. I had done a bit of homework while evaluating a number of other companies and I was happily surprised that Bill was the only one who explained and enlightened me about exactly what needed to be done and why. B.P. was not the first company I evaluated nor the last, but everyone else rehearsed a similar basic script, or nearly nothing at all in one case. However, Bill was very detailed and upfront. And he thinks outside the box, coming up with ideas and solutions that further improved the project. I even went back and challenged the other companies on the options and matters that Bill pointed out and no one else would or could provide the same level of detail that Bill did with confidence. And the work performed was completed exactly as he explained before it began. No surprises, no gimmicks, no up-sells, no shortcuts. Superior design and planning skills.B.P.s crew is also excellent. Some of the most friendly and wonderful people Ive had work on my properties. They never complained about anything and they didnt waste time yelling at each other nor playing around. Sure, there was plenty of expected scraping, banging, and cutting but nothing like what Ive heard while my neighbors had their roof replaced. In fact, I was able to attend meetings with my mic turned on during construction and I didnt have to worry about excessive noise nor blurted obscenities.Additionally, Bill is completely transparent with his pricing. All work performed was exactly as I expected based on his design and he never attempted to slide in changes that we didnt originally agree on. This was surprising because Im used to building contractors constantly trying to slide in various additions or changes to increase their bottom line. Comment: I feel very lucky I hired B.P. Custom Roofing for my roof replacement project. They exceeded my expectations every step of the way. When I first met Bill, the business owner, to get a quote, the way he walked me through the whole process and the transparency/competitive pricing he offered immediately made them stand out among all the contractors I had contacted with. It could not be an easier decision to hire them for the job. Our project got delayed for about a week due to the rain. Bill was on top of all communications and kept me informed all the time. During the project, his crew were very professional, friendly and super-efficient. They started on time and cleared up the job site before leaving every day. Bill also stopped by every day to make sure the project was progressing well and on schedule. The way he reviewed the work and talked to his crew made me feel like it was his own house. That showed how much he cared. There were a few unexpected issues that occurred during the project. When I brought up the issues to Bill’s attention, regardless of what time during the day, I always got timely responses with proposed solutions from him. Comment: We have a house in Laguna Hills with a flat roof and a tile roof portion. We had some leaking in the areas under the flat roof, due partially to the fact that the roof was past it’s prime, wasn’t installed well to begin with, and garden-style drains that had been used originally we’re clogging and leaking. (All of this intel learned after Bills assessment)I spent quite a while looking for a roofer because of the cost and the risk of choosing a bad one with all of that money and potential water damage on the line.We found BP Custom Roofing on Yelp and ultimately chose them because of the high ratings and the meticulous detail that Bill, the owner, provides when quoting the job. He outlined specifically what he and his team were going to do and why and showed multiple roofs like ours they had done all over Orange County. NOBODY else came anywhere close to that level of detail, explanation and experience. They just gave a price.In the end WE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE! Not only did they do a beautiful job on our flat roof but they made time to do EXTENSIVE repairs to our tile roof which was thrashed (250 tiles broken) during a botched fumigation. We made the choice to have him replace the underlayment at the same time so now essentially have a brand new tile roof and flat roof which they had to work overtime to complete.I can’t say enough about the professionalism of the crew and Bill. We’re thrilled with our new roof which they worked over the weekend and into their holiday week to complete before the rain next week. A++, 5 star, 10 out of 10 from us!

It was a great experience from start to finish, starting with Bills careful approach to inspecting the roof at the beginning and talking us through the options for replacement. The pricing was fair relative to other quotes we got and Bill was transparent the whole way including with some changes that were required (he had alerted us with the original quote about the areas in which there might be extra work required after seeing underneath the old roof). His crew also did a great job and completed the work efficiently. The foreman was very helpful and knowledgeable and showed me what they were doing at key points through the process. Everything looks good at the end of the job. Overall highly recommended.

Comment: Just before getting solar installed on our roof, we discovered we had a roof leak during the December storms. We interviewed four different roofing contractors and we chose Bill at B.P. Custom Roofing.When Bill came by to give us his estimate, he was the best prepared of all the other contractors with detailed parameters of our roof from satellite imagery. He was also the only one that sat down with us and fully explained the whole process and the options available. He is a fountain of information and clearly attentive to detail, which we appreciated.When time came to do the “tile re-lay” work, Bill, Jesus, and the rest of his crew were excellent in terms of promptness, cleanliness, and being easy to work with. Bill worked with us on scheduling to have the solar guys installing the panel footing mounts while Bill’s guys were working on other parts of the roof so they could double-check the 60 or so roof penetrations that the solar guys were making. Bill went above and beyond our expectations by adding additional “peel and stick” underlayment over the footer flashings to marry better with the synthetic underlayment he installed over the whole roof. We appreciated Bill’s high standards for quality of work. Throughout the process, Bill answered all our questions, addressed any concerns we had, and was a pleasure to work with. He was super helpful from start to finish from helping us pick out a tile pattern to match our exterior home inspiration photos to coordinating with the city on permits and the solar company on installing the solar panels after the roof was completed. There were a lot of hiccups with the solar guys during the project but Bill worked with us and them despite having a lot of issues. Bill was in constant communication with us the entire time and kept our project on schedule. He really cared about our project and doing a quality job. He even had his guys help paint some of the pipes to blend in with the new tiles. We really appreciated that bill cares about doing the job right and also being very cognizant of aesthetic as well. Comment: Our search began with your typical call-around of local, licensed roofing contractors. We were excited at the thought of replacing our new homes 40+ yr old, clay tiles with stone-coated steel shingles for their strength, lightweightedness, non-combustible Class A rating, walkability, low maintenance and the fact that they won’t crack, break, burn, curl, split or rot. A call to Kaitlyn at South County Roofing referred us to Bill Priebe (B.P. Custom Roofing) as SCR does not work with metal/steel shingles.Later in the same day that we requested a quote using his web site... Bill contacted us. Smile #1. At our first meeting Bill gave thorough explanations of the potential job... how he identifies the roofs, and our, needs... that he orders an aerial report for calculating the roofs exact square footage... that hell physically inspect the roofs existing condition to determine the extent of necessary repairs, if any... that his proposal & contract will provide a start & targeted stop date, itemized costs, and our expected documentation of references, licenses, insurances, material descriptions, etc. But most importantly, Bill educated us on the need for proper attic intake & exhaust ventilation to make a roof, no matter its material components, last as long as possible. Smile #2. As stated previously, we were excited about replacing clay tiles with steel shingles. However, after his inspection, Bill found the tiles to be in excellent condition and talked us into keeping them for two main reasons. 1. saving the added cost of steel shingles and, 2. saving the environment by decreasing landfill. Comment: How/Why we picked BP Custom RoofingWe found Bills info after he was recommended by another roofing company that came over to look at our roof. They said he was the best man for the job. When he called us back, he had already done his research and knew more about our roof than we did (when it was last repaired, who did the repair, what kind of tile we have, measurements, etc). Immediately, we knew that this guy was legit (we had already suffered through many hours of hard sell tactics from other companies at that point). When he came to look at the roof, he immediately identified the issues that were causing immediate and long term problems. He sold us on how passionate and proud he was about the quality of his work and didnt play games as far as pricing goes. Also, he was upfront and gave us an estimate of how much the price could change should any of the wood under the underlayment needed to be replaced. His estimated time of completion was also very reasonable compared to others. With no hesitation, we picked him to be our roofer.During the projectBills team were so incredibly efficient and were also very friendly. Jesus, his contractor, was always pleasant to interact with. Very nice guy. The team would always come on time and certainly didnt sit around. They set up their work station ever so neatly and cleaned up after themselves at the end of the day. Bill would pop in everyday and inspected their work and documented the progress. He would also communicate to us everything that was happening. They finished the project exactly when they said itll be done.It has been over a month now since our Tile Relay had been completed and we couldnt be any happier! Comment: Bill & his team from B.P. Custom Roofing, did an excellent job on my new cool roof, Moire Black shingles. The crew was on time, efficient, professional & cleaned up the work areas daily. Bill is very detail oriented and takes care of his crew like family.I interviewed several roofers for almost 5 weeks. Some were quick to bid without going to much details. Some bid , but when had questions, never bothered to respond. I did my due diligence as a homeowner to familiarize what a new roof would entail. It is a big investment and had a time constraint. With several bids, I was not content, until I met Bill. I told him I wanted a cool roof, & he suggested along with Landmark Solaris, Moire Black, to install 7 O’Hagin vents and ridge roof vent for exhaust.No one ever mentioned about the correct & proper ventilation for the “cool roof” am wanting installed. I emailed Bill on a Friday at 5 pm, by 7pm, he called me to make arrangement to meet Saturday. Tuesday I gave him the go.I knew just talking to Bill that he was the right roofer. Comment: I met Bill with B.P. Custom Roofing who came and gave me an estimate for a new roof on my home. I knew immediately that Bill was the right contractor for me. He was extremely thorough, very detailed and explained exactly what my roof needed and also explained to me the importance of proper attic ventilation. His price was not the lowest but definitely the best value as it included more options than the other contractors. The job went smooth from start to finish and the crew cleaned up the job site everyday. I don’t really get excited about roofs and mine is composition shingle but it looks absolutely gorgeous and I especially like the ridge vent detail. Comment: Hire Bill! He must have a degree in psychology because he has been able to deal with me! Bill made me feel like I was his only client. He drove me around my neighborhood to help me make my decision and when I still couldnt decide, he gave me addresses in my city to compare. I wasnt easy but he was extremely patient with me. Bill also had to help me when my HOA denied me the tile that was clearly the best product/weight for my home. He has held my hand through all of this! I am getting my roof next month so I dont have a picture to post yet but I just wanted to let people know that Bill is the roofer they should use!5 stars plus!! I got my beautiful roof and I am over moon happy! Replacing my roof was an investment and expense I wanted to get right and I am extremely thankful that I chose BP Custom Roofing! Throughout the process, Bill kept me involved and in addition to communicating with me, he worked with my house painter, a skylight business and a zero lot line neighbor so everything went smoothly which saved me from an enormous amount of stress. Bill came out and inspected our roof and said we just need a tune up which he does not do but he gave us a referral for a company that can take care of it. He is honest, decent and saved us a lot of money. Can’t say enough good things about him. When we do replace our roof his company is the one we will use.

Comment: First of all, B.P. Custom roofing/Bill did a wonderful job for my reroofing project. In comparison, I had a really bad experience of roofing work seven years ago, and that roofer did a really poor and disqualified job, and it begins troubling me even only after two years in a relatively dry Huntington Beach climate. I end up to have to redo the roof this year. Also I become really cautious for hiring a roofer this time, I compared several other contractors, after Bill explained to me the details of his working process/materials and showed his many previous projects and I begin to trust him and chose him for my work, (meanwhile, my neighbor also recommend him to me). During the work, since I am not able to be onsite, Bill sent me a lot of step by step pictures everyday, and we did a phone call for about one hour everyday, and Bill explained to me the status, and answered all my questions patiently. The project was done about one week beautifully as BIll had planed. I am very glad Bill has put my roof trouble behind.In all, Bill is very experienced, reasonable, responsible for the work he is doing. He earned the five star with a high bar.

Comment: We just had our roof redone last week. Excellent experience all around from getting the quote to roof completion. Bill is very personable and pays attention to the details. He arrived on time for our quote , already had the dimensions in hand, got on the roof and did a thorough exam of the roof as well as the facia. He explained in detail the process from start to finish, what each day would look like, which was dead on, and had available a selection of shingles to choose from. The job took 5 days as advertised for our size roof. We were very pleased with the quality of the workmanship and professionalism of the crew. The cleanup for each day was incredible. Comment: We used BP roofing on our home tile roofing job 2 years ago. Bill is a professional, hands on owner. He is upfront with his customers, providing entire job details and cost. Bill is also on the job site, over seeing the job from beginning to end. Two years, after completion, we had a few minor repairs that were needed after another contractor had walked on our roof. Comment: We recently moved from a larger home in Laguna Niguel to Lake Forest with the goal to downsize for our retirement years. We found a great one story home on the lake with no real yard to speak of.... pretty stress free lifestyle for our golden years, well thats what we thought.... The home we purchased had solar panels and five skylights. We love the solar, but not so much the skylights. We had some really heavy rain in February and March and found that we had 2 skylights leaking. NOT FUN!I placed a couple of tarps on the roof to ride out the rainy weather. Fast forward to June I reluctantly started reviewing roofing reviews on Yelp to perform the dreaded repairs. I read reviews for about 6 companys before I got to B.P. Custom Roofing. I started reading the companys reviews and in my gut I thought this was the company I wanted to use. I made the call and left a message. I received a call back about an hour later from Bill, the owner.I explained my predicament. He told me that he was booked until August, but would send someone out to assess the leaks .Two days later I received a call from Alex, the companys field supervisor. I hit it off with him. He came out the next day and took measurements for the needed repairs.Okay, long winded, I know... fast forward, he quoted me a price that I thought was fair and I awarded them the job. I was pleasantly surprised when I got the call they could take care of our roof the first week in July.Alex and his helper came out and performed the repairs. WOW, a truly professional crew! Comment: I have known and worked with BP Roofing on a few previous occasions and so when it’s time for the re-roofing of my house, I ask Bill Priebe for his recommendation and his bid. Bill has always been very professional and trustworthy, I have seen his good work and understand his bid is likely to be in the middle of the pack, so it was not a surprise that I have a beautiful new roof on a fair price. I’d like to share my experience on the three parts process of my re-roofing with BP Roofing.The first part is the estimate and schedule. Bill came to my house and gave me his expert opinion on what works best. The light-weight tiles option provided the least risk of getting a permit without further roof work, even though it’s not the cheapest option. He used an aerial app and immediately knew the footage and hence was able to give me an estimate at the spot. Since Bill’s crew has been with him for more than a decade, he was able to give me a start to finish time frame from his schedule – the actual start date was within the week and finished on schedule.The second part is the execution. The crew torn down my roof, did minor repairs, and they were careful and able to save my solar tubes. They always clean up at the end of every workday. Crew chiefs Alex Sr. and Jr. have always been there to address any issues and also accommodating. The roof work is excellent, in all aspects. There are a couple of spots where my add-on merge with existing roof needed some extra attention and innovative solution to make it functional and looks good, they were able to custom build the transition which I appreciate very much. There is also the transition to the chimney due to tile height difference that they put in extra effort to make it look nice. Overall, I am very happy about the new roof.Lastly, follow through. I waited to write the review to see how the roof works and the response if there is any problem. The roof went through the storms a month ago and there was a leak at the same spot that partly prompt the re-roofing (age – 59 year old 1st layer and 30 year old metal on top - being the other factor). I contacted Bill and Alex Sr. was out the next day to evaluate the problem and back the next day with help to fix it. Turned out it has nothing to do with the roof, there was a crack on the chimney side stone wall and water seeped in under heavy side wind. They were nice to caulk the mortar crack even though it has nothing to do with the roofing. I believe BP Roofing will be there quickly if any issue arises.

Comment: I got my reroof completed by BP roofing in late 2018. Excellent job by Bill and his crew. These guys are high quality and take pride in their work. It took 6 days straight and you could tell they were taking their time not to miss anything. A couple of notes. I didnt have any noticeable leaks inside the house but was worried that in the long run the cheap felt paper they used in the late 80s was going to fail. Sure enough Bill replaced 6 sheets of plywood that were rotted from small leaks throughout the years that didnt show up inside the house. Now the rubberized diamond deck material will last forever. Another point, its likely that your roof isnt up to code for venting and some other items. That is taken care off when you do your reroof job so its turn key. Highly recommended.

Comment: This is the second roof I have had done from BP custom roofing. The first was my primary residence and I was impressed and very happy with the work. So when my rental house needed a roof, I called B.P. Custom roofing. Bill is always there to let you know what’s happening and takes the time to explain every detail. In the case of my rental house, there was clearly lots of wood rot. Bill took the time to show me all the problems. You don’t have to be a roofing expert to see that much of the wood was in need of replacement. Bill and his crew took care of it all and made the decisions easy. I would absolutely recommend B.P. Custom roofing to anyone in need of a roof. They were professional, knowledgeable, and fast. One other thing, they are extremely neat and tidy. Everything is protected from demo to roof replacement.
